Review - John Freda Sheer Blonde Tone Correcting Shampoo and Conditioner
Hello!
Well that's a mouthful of a tile, isn't it! So you might be wondering why a brunette blogger is reviewing a shampoo and conditioner for blonde hair? I recently did my hair ombre style and bleached a lot more of my hair than I did last time. I first did it about a year ago, using an ordinary bleaching kit (which by the way is so much easier than the new ombre kits!) and have just redone it because it had kind of disappeared due to cutting the ends and dying the top half of my hair. Because of the natural tones of my hair and the dye that was on some of it I always get a brassiness after bleaching which I don't really like so try to you products to reduce this. Anyway enough of my rambling and hair stories, more reviewing!
So I went for a wonder and a hunt for some Touch of Silver and instead came across John Freda and thought I might as well give it ago! First of all I adore the packaging, the purple just draws me in straight away. I'm a sucker for good packaging! The products both smell really nice. They're kind of fruity but with the typical salon scent and not at all overpowering, just enough so that your hair smells fresh and clean. Both the products are purple, with the shampoo being a deeper purple, and it's these violet tones which help to neutralise the brassiness. The shampoo is said to help with neutralising the brassiness whilst the conditioner helps to protect the blonde, keeping it soft and healthy, so it's really best to use them together to get the best results.
Before using the products I always wash my hair all over with my usual shampoo just to make sure it's clean and remove any products. I then go in with the tone correcting shampoo just on the bleached parts, massaging it in to my hair for a good 3-4 minutes before washing it off. I carry out the same routine with the conditioner however I leave it on until I've finished doing everything else in the shower.
Once out the shower my hair felt really imaginable and easy to brush through. After I'd dried it the ends were obviously brighter and more of a true blonde! My mum even commented saying it looked blonder and brighter. It looked even better after the second time using the products too! It states to use the products 2-3 times a week so I've been using them for every wash. The shampoo and conditioner retail for £5.99 each in Boots and you get 250ml of product. I will most definitely be repurchasing this product as it works so well!
